Pre Post Wedding Tours
It’s always a fun idea to have some pre-post wedding tours arranged for all of your guests to see and experience and fall in love with the destination that you have chosen for your most special occasion in your lives so we have set down below a list of those tours and activities that we find wedding groups like to participate in together to get to know each other and spend some time with the wedding couple pre-post the wedding celebrations.
Visit The Great Barrier Reef
Outer Barrier Reef Pontoon from Cairns or Port Douglas
When travelling with a large group of people it is always wise to choose an activity or tour that is sure to suit everyone’s needs and requirements so when going out to the Great Barrier Reef from Cairns or Port Douglas it is wise to spend the day on a solid floating platform that sits on the Outer Barrier Reef.
There are two ways of travelling to the Great Barrier Reef and those modes of transport are helicopter or by a high speed catamaran. Helicopter transportation takes around 35 minutes and you get to experience amazing views of the coral reefs below as well as the marine life that you can see swimming by.
Travelling to the reef by boat takes around 90 minutes in a comfortable high speed catamaran. On the journey out you will be shown all of the day’s in water activities that you can participate in whilst on the outer barrier reef pontoon.
Some of these outer barrier reef activities are snorkeling, introductory or certified scuba diving, Helmut diving, Scoo ba doo, glass bottom boat viewing tours, semi-submersible submarine tours and scenic helicopter flights off the pontoon.
Going to a pontoon on the reef is perfect for the guests that would like to partake in all of the in water activities and see as much of the Cairns and Port Douglas Great Barrier Reef as possible in a day.
A pontoon is also ideal for the wedding guests that are not so good at swimming or those that would rather not go in the water but still would like to stay with the wedding party and see as much of the Great Barrier Reef as possible via all of the above means available to them on the pontoon as well as the underwater observatory deck so they can view all the snorkelers and the marine life below the pontoon.
A Half Day Or Full Day Island Experience
Cairns And Port Douglas Great Barrier Reef Islands
What better way to spend some valuable time with your family, friends and loved one’s than on an idyllic tropical island on the Great Barrier Reef from either Cairns or Port Douglas.
An island experience will suit all of your wedding guests just as the pontoon on the outer Barrier Reef does because those guests that are not keen swimmers can still enjoy the celebrations and ride in the semi-submersible submarine and the glass bottom boat, enjoy the tropical island and still see Australia’s Great Barrier Reef.
And for those keen to try some scuba diving or snorkeling then they are free to do that on both the half day island tour or the full day island tour.
Should you wish to have a private boat charter arranged for you and your wedding guests you could even add some drinks and nibbles for the days celebrations.

You need not have any experience in riding an ATV or a motorbike as you will be given instructions on the day. ATV Quad bikes are a great wedding group activity.
Hot Air Ballooning
Hot air ballooning is another great idea for a pre-post wedding group activity as everyone can participate as long as they are able to leverage themselves in and out of the balloon basket.
Yes it is an early morning start and a few of your guests may have some headaches but hot air ballooning is well worth the rush.
Soar above the Cairns Atherton Tablelands and watch the sunrise over yonder and see the animals and humans starting to wake and move around down below you. It feels like you are secretly spying on them as they have no idea you are there until they hear the burners of the hot air balloon as you glide on by.
A day spent in the rainforest is always a good day especially when you add Jungle Surfing to the days activities.
Jungle Surfing or riding a flying fox thru the trees of the world heritage Cape Tribulation and Daintree rainforests is something to suit all of your wedding guests even the little ones and grandma and grandpa.
Jungle Surfing is a half day activity so you can get to explore the wild rivers and see crocodiles and walk on the beautiful pristine beaches of the Cape Tribulation area.
Scenic flights are a spectacular way to see the Cairns and Port Douglas outer barrier reef as you fly around 500 feet above the azure waters of one of the seven natural wonders of the world.
From high above in your helicopter or fixed wing aircraft you see the coral formations and the marine life below such as manta ray, turtles, whales and dugongs. The photography that you get from these heights is equally spectacular and you can all be together in an aircraft experiencing the wonders of the Great Barrier Reef together.
Ocean Fishing and River Fishing
Another great wedding group activity is to go fishing for the day on the Great Barrier Reef and maybe add some snorkeling to it as well.
Half day fishing charters depart from Cairns and Port Douglas for river and estuary fishing and full day fishing charters start at Port Douglas, Cairns and Mission Beach. These fishing charters can be on a private charter basis or you can just join in with other keen fishermen and women.
A Dinner In The Rainforest
A dinner in the middle of the enchanting rainforest is the perfect way to wow your wedding guests and there is nothing better than to see their faces as they alight from the coach and walk thru the candelabra lit rainforest trail to the black veiled marquee where they are to dine on some magnificent north Queensland produce matched with wines and beverages.
The set up of the dinner in the rainforest is something that is to be applauded and something that every visitor to Cairns and Port Douglas should not miss out on.
Bungy Jumping –Minjin Swing
Well you can try that leap of faith with all of your wedding guests looking on to see if you are brave enough to go thru with it.
Bungy Jumping and Minjin Swing is another activity that can be enjoyed by just about everyone of your wedding guests. With the Minjin Swing you are attached to a harness and swung back and forth at a rather high speed to give you that thrill you are looking for and you can go solo or with two of your other friends.
Bungy jumping is a true solo journey but you can be creative and jump in many varying styles and fashions to make it even more memorable.
Kuranda Scenic Train and Skyrail
Just about every single visitor to Cairns or Port Douglas chooses to experience the historical ride on the Kuranda Scenic Railway and visit the village in the rainforest high above on the McAllister Ranges.
Here they can wander thru the markets, shops and tourist attractions of this eclectic little village and experience the local Aboriginal culture and see native Australian wildlife and indigenous animals of tropical north Queensland.
A ride down the mountain on Skyrail is an amazing journey when you take into consideration the construction difficulties of building the cableway without damaging the surrounding rainforests is a feat in itself.
The views across the treetops are magnificent as are the views out to the ocean and the islands of the Great Barrier Reef off Cairns.
Pre-post wedding tours and activities are a great way to get all of your wedding guests relaxed in the company of all of your other wedding guests that they do not already know and that makes the whole wedding get together that much more fun for everyone and you and your lovely bride or groom can relax and not have to run around making all the introductions and ensuring everybody is having a good time.
